What
does the 20 year guarantee mean?
The twenty year guarantee comes from Juliana and is serviced by Juliana.
What is covered is the steel frame against defect due to faulty workmanship
or materials.
If in the course of shipping the product if any item is broken when
it arrives we will replace anything at no charge. In addition Juliana
will cover normal wear and tear on the plastic panels.
Will anybody be around to honor this warranty?
Frostproof Growers has been around since 1985 and we intend to be
around at least another 25 years or so my son tells me. Juliana
has been in business for over 15 years and is showing no signs of
getting any smaller. We fully expect Juliana to honor this warranty
but if for some reason they do not, Frostproof Growers Supply always
warranties their products.
How
easy are these greenhouse kits to assemble?
This answer came from one of our customers who put together the
compact unit
"A friend came over to help me on this project because I
thought two hands were better than one. I probably could have done
this by myself but it was nice to have help and someone to talk
to. We put the whole greenhouse up in a weekend, about four hours
each day. The detailed instruction sheet was easy to follow because
all the parts were numbered so everything went up pretty fast."
T. Simpson (Seattle, WA)
Are
these kits built to last?
Juliana is a Danish company that prides itself on quality. They
are constructed to withstand the extreme conditions that are the
norm in Scandinavia. The profile dimensions of the aluminum used
in their greenhouses are in most cases 50% stronger than anything
else on the market. Hence they feel confident in offering a 12 year
guarantee
How
are these kits shipped?
The aluminum
profiles are supplied in a sturdy carton or a wooden packing case.
The glass or plastic is packed in a special patented packing that
is cut to an exact size.
Do
you have to buy the base also?
No you do not have to buy the base but we recommend that you make
a solid foundation to put the greenhouse kits on. One of our customers
wrote the following:
"We were going to erect our own base out of wood but at
the last minute we changed our minds and ordered the base that is
designed to work with the kits. I'm really glad we did because it
seemed like everything really went together easier."
R. Clark (Houston, TX)
How
thick are the polycarbonate panels?
All of the polycarbonate panels have recently been increased as has
the warranty on the panels. All Juliana polycarbonate panels come
with a 5 year warranty. The basic models and the mini's have 4 mm
thickness, the compact models and the lean-to (not including the mini's)
have a 6mm thickness. The premium and the gardener series have a 10mm
thickness.
What
is polycarbonate and is it better than glass?
For decades
hobby greenhouses have been synonymous with the combination of aluminum
and glass. However, in the last few years the glass has to a great
extent been substituted by polycarbonate. The reason this material
has become so popular is that the construction is similar to thermo
windows and hence the temperatures in the house will be more even
and it gives plants a better growing condition.
In addition polycarbonate is stronger than glass to resist things
like flying baseballs. The sheets are lightweight and quick to assemble.
The construction of the panels breaks sunrays decreasing the need
for shade. The insulating effect of polycarbonate extends the growing
season dramatically and if you wish to heat the greenhouse the loss
of heat is decreased dramatically.
Do
I have to heat my greenhouse?
It all
depends upon how cold the average outside temperatures are. There
are many types of heaters available on the Internet that are either
gas, electric or propane. One tip that we give out to our customers
is to fill a couple of 4-5 gallon cans with water and place them
around greenhouse. During the day they will be heated by the sun
and give off the heat during the night. This will keep the temperature
in the greenhouse a little more even and prevent the first frost
doing harm to the plants.
